Wolgaster Straße Daycare

The daycare garden in Berlin-Wedding was already equipped with various elements of ecological daycare garden design before it was redesigned, but these had become outdated over time and should be integrated into the new design wherever possible. Preserving the existing elements and materials is particularly important: this saves costs, has a positive impact on the climate and strengthens the bond between users and the garden. The educational staff were closely involved in the planning process and the overall project was implemented in several construction phases. The integration of the existing topography, the existing trees and striking features such as the 'elephant gate' and the patchwork seating theater increase the attractiveness of the play landscape. Extensive planting and a variety of play options, combined with the use of natural and recycled materials, create an area that allows children to encounter nature in the middle of a densely populated city.
